Living Life to the Fullest
Living Life to the Fullest shares one teen's thoughts about giving our whole lives to God.
"What would happen to me if I died tonight? Would my soul enter into eternal bliss that only heaven can provide or into the eternal torture that only hell can realize?"
These questions made me think: "What would happen if I died tonight? To what have I dedicated my life?" I hope I have ascribed my life to God. I hope that my relationship with Jesus Christ is ready for that monumental event of precarious magnanimity- God's final exam of entering heaven or hell after death.
This question made me think a little bit more. "Okay G.I. Joe, what's the most important thing in my life? Is it my own self-interests? No. My Family? No. My Friends? No. Perhaps it's those wonderful creatures God made called Girls? No. My School, then? No. What about my Hobbies? No. What about Wealth? No. Could it be Power? No. Is Fame in there somewhere? No. If none of these are my motives, then what is left to live for?" Jesus Christ is the One to whom I give my all.
When I am judged I want to hear God say, "Well done thy good and faithful servant. Enter in..." I am not going to hear that if I go halfway. This thing called life is an all-out clash between good and evil. Heaven or hell. It's up to each of us to choose, but I don't want to just escape hell, I want to break it.
I know you might be thinking, "What are you saying G.I. Joe? Break hell? C'mon it's not a Twix bar or something... are you loony, man? You better lay off those late-night pizzas, they'll mess you up worse than a can of Alaskan oil on a cold winter day. Wazzup witchu?!? Dude, ya better work it off!"
Okay. You’re right. I should lay off those late-night pizzas, but enough about me. Let's get back to the issue!
I want to be a part of the biggest rip-off of all time. "What's the biggest rip-off of all time?", you ask? I want to rip hell off and here’s how I’m gonna do it. By the time I die more people are going to be headed to heaven than if I had never lived. We all deserve hell, so I want to steal all those souls from satan because of the life-giving, earth quaking, devil-rattlin', scintillating, can't-wait-to-see-it, salvation-providing blood of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
In order to accomplish this goal I must convince my friends that Jesus' love is real. I can only do that by giving everything (and I mean everything!) to Jesus so that none of me will get in the way of Him touching my friends' hearts. That means I give up G.I. Joe the man in exchange for G.I. Joe the servant. I choose to no longer act on my own desires.
I want my life to count, and it will, I guarantee you. I'm not going to count because of what I do, I'm going to count because of what Jesus does through me.
God's given me a freewill to accept or reject Him. I accept: wholeheartedly. I give up my family, friends, future wife, money, power, fame and selfish pride. Sure most of these things are good, and I believe I will enjoy the good ones when God blesses me with them, but if any become more important to me than Jesus, then they are sinful. If my life were already filled up with attachments to this world (as it used to be and unfortunately sometimes still is) then there isn't any room for the Son of Man- JESUS!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying to become a hermit and live in the middle of the Sahara under the surname "Saheb." If we as Christians give up everything and fade out of society then who will share the Good News of Christ? We are, after all, the salt of the earth. I am not talking about a physical rejection of these things but a mental one. But if any material things are getting in the way of you serving Christ then by all means get rid of them!
The Lord is a gentleman. He won't force you to do anything, but there are consequences for disobeying His righteous laws. I say we give it all up. Let's tell Jesus that we ascribe our lives to Him in complete servitude and then we can say:
"There's nobody that can stop me, there's nobody that can block me, because all that I do I do in You, Lord Jesus!"
Let's go get 'em people; we've got a world to save, little time to do it and the Lord of the Universe to back us! Yo Joe!
With a renewing heart,
God bless,
G.I. Joe :-)
